Nature Workshops

Feathers and Frames

Calling all experienced and aspiring birders for an exploration of the world of birds through art and biology!! Birds are some of the living world's most diverse and intriguing groups of wildlife. There are over 10,000 species of birds worldwide, and at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, you may see dozens of species in a single visit.

The Nature Reserve is hosting three bird-themed workshops with a creative twist, focusing on bird diversity, functions of feathers, and observing our local species. Join an experienced birder for an opportunity to learn about and observe birds on the nature reserve, then learn to draw birds at a beginner level in various art styles under the guidance of an accomplished local artist, John LeFlock!

The first workshop will take place on April 15th from 12:00 pm - 2:45 pm. The additional dates will be announced soon! Participants may sign up for one workshop for $40.00 or all three at $120.00. Each workshop is 2 hours and 45 minutes in length and is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning about bird biology and trying their hand at new forms of art.

Booking is available below through our online platform, Peek. Taxes & fees apply. If you prefer to pay in cash please visit the front desk in our interpretive Centre (staffed daily from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm).
