The Rotary Interpretive Centre

Come Inside!

Our volunteers host the Rotary Interpretive Centre and keep the building open to the community 7 days per week, 364 days of the year. Inside, you will be greeted by our reception volunteers who are happy to answer questions and provide maps. The Chilliwack Rotary Club built and donated this unique building to the City of Chilliwack in the early 2000's. The Centre hosts the Blue Heron Gift Shop, which has a lovely selection of nature-themed items for purchase which supports the conservation and outreach work we do.

Warm drinks available by donation!

The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society utilizes funding from various sources to ensure the continuous operation of the Interpretive Centre and ongoing habitat restoration and site development. The number of visitors to the Rotary Interpretive Centre has jumped from 3,800 visitors when opened in 2002, to over 20,000 in 2022. Donations help to ensure that the Interpretive Centre continues to enhance our community's experience at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

The GBHNRS offers many events, workshops, and school, group, and visitor programs. Visit our school programs or events pages for details.

Feathered Friends!

The Rotary Interpretive Center is a popular bird-watching location from both inside and out! Thanks to generous donations from Wild Birds Unlimited, our feeders remain stocked year-round and provide a food source for wildlife, educational opportunities, and a favorite spot for photographers to capture beautiful portraits of our feathered friends! Volunteers survey as a part of Project Feederwatch to help keep an eye on the bird populations. Visit our Wildlife Features page for recent bird sightings.

Thanks for your support!
